APPLE DUO/TRIO
Rhonda Apple has been a professional vocalist all of her adult life, and a fixture on lower DelMarVa for much of it. During this time she performed, most notably, full time at Phillips Beach Plaza Hotel in Ocean City, MD, with pianist Dale Britt, among other engagements, for nearly 20 years. Rhonda's influences are many, as she moves at ease from the Great American Songbook to jazz standards to adult contemporary to classic pop. After the Phillips run, Rhonda stepped away from singing for a time (except for her church, where she leads worship weekly). Recently, Rhonda has returned to performing with Joe Holt; a pianist known for his whimsical improvisations and joy-filled performances, along with being a sensitive accompanist and collaborator. Joe has been a full time musician, and fixture in the greater Mid-Atlantic region for nearly 50 years. Reviewers have praised Joe as as "ever tasteful", "an exquisite interpreter of song", "an excellent stride/swing pianist" and "the genuine article". In addition to performing as a duo, Rhonda and Joe (on keyboard) are joined by drummer/percussionist Mike McShane; a long established and beloved musician in DelMarVa, to form the "Apple Trio".
