Other News

I've (finally) begun the process that should see sheet music arrangements made available by late spring, starting with arrangements of hymns. As I learn to work my way through the unfamiliar copyright and royalty issues of this realm, the offerings will expand over time. Coupled with the introduction of piano arrangements will be YouTube video posts of the arrangements being played. I'll keep you posted in coming newsletters
From the Journal
Typing this during the production of my radio show, as Rob is working with EQ. Am announcing on the show (to air on 3/2) the release of the instructional series ; Lessons For The Thoughtful Pianist. If you click now, you'll get a "holding tank" page (Max is really good with all that), while I finalize the website prep. Expect it up and running in the coming few days. This is a unique and proven series. Stay tuned.
Also - topped 30,000 total video views today. Am networking with a lot of nice, encouraging people as a result of all this. Encouragement, in this business is good, especially in February.

The Big Story
"Lessons For The Thoughtful Pianist"

I am pleased to announce the re-introduction of the original Joe Holt's Notes instructional articles. Personal circumstances forced me to pull this series from self-publication, several years ago - but now - they're back to stay!  These articles are primarily about informing, and shaping our thoughts concerning music making. Designed as a supplement to your ongoing studies, each lesson brings you to the essence of a specific topic: chords, technique, interpretation, practical considerations, and more. These articles are written for (almost) all levels, as these are about the ideas that guide you. From the beginner student with a basic understanding, to the intermediate and even advanced pianist, these lessons will provoke thought and exploration. (For me, at least,) that's what it's all about! Packaged in 3 organized folders, this collection of 24 lesson articles is available for $30 (plus S&H). Click here to learn more!

Joe Holt's Notes Records
This is a classic jazz recording that really isn't, yet it is. The Midiri Brothers and I go back nearly 35 years, and quickly bonded (way back then, in high school) under a common banner - the Benny Goodman Trio. That instrumentation: clarinet, piano, and drums became our staple for those first years. We were influenced by our "idols", but we (usually) didn't "copy". Current reviews of the band reflect this - noting that we are not "imitators", rather performing fresh, and innovative each time. You'll find that in our trio reunion CD: The Other Brother. It will make you smile.
